ROANOKE, Ind. (WOWO): Expansions to Southwest Allen County's General Motors plant could top $1 billion dollars.

Allen County Council will consider  a plan that would award tax phase-ins for the project this week. According to the News-Sentinel, it would save the company about $53 million dollars over a 10 period.

The project is still in the planning stages and has to pass muster with GM leaders. The tax breaks are largely an incentive to encourage approval.

More than 41 hundred people are employed the plant with a payroll of nearly $325 million dollars a year, according to the newspaper report.
