COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ The number of Ohioans being monitored for Ebola symptoms in connection with the case of a Texas nurse is shrinking as more people reach the end of the 21-day watch period.
The Department of Health said Monday that 52 people were being monitored because of contact or potential contact with nurse Amber Vinson, who visited Ohio before being diagnosed with the virus. One person in Ohio remained quarantined.
At one point, over 160 people were monitored. Health checks for the remaining contacts are expected to end Tuesday, three weeks after Vinson flew back to Dallas. Vinson was released from a hospital last week after tests showed she's virus-free.
Ohio officials also were monitoring 30 people under new protocols for travelers returning from West African countries that have Ebola outbreaks.
