Why an Early Dismissal at Peru High School

As a precautionary measure, Peru High School students and staff were released today at 1:30PM. This release of students and staff was due to a non-specific verbal threat made by a student. Police were notified and the student was removed. Safety protocol was followed by Administration. At no time were any students or staff in danger. Local police, State Police, and Peru Community School Administration handled the joint investigation. A sweep for explosive devices was conducted by officers from the State Police and the explosive detecting dogs from Von Liche Kennels. No dangerous devices were found during this sweep. Classes will be in session on Friday at regular time. I reiterate, this was a precautionary matter and an overabundance of caution was used to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
