Army Pals Reunite 67 Years Later

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) _ Two Army buddies who hadn’t seen each other since they served in the Philippines during World War II have reunited 67 years later.

Ninety-two-year-old Dale Martin of New Albany, Ind., recently traveled with his daughter and her husband to Texas, where he surprised his old Army pal Charles Rauschuber at a restaurant.

Martin said Rauschuber didn’t recognize him at first. But after he introduced himself, he says Rauschuber recognized his voice and they embraced and began talking about old times.

After their meeting, Martin says he told Rauschuber he would see him again in 10 years when he’ll be 102. He says Rauschuber responded, “I doubt it.”

The pair served together in the Philippines with a supply company, delivering and loading supplies onto plane
