Indiana Blood Center Eliminating 45 Positions

The center made the announcement today, along with other efforts to respond to a decrease in demand for blood by hospitals. The non-profit relies on service fees that it charges hospitals in order to distribute blood. But the organization says the demand for blood by hospitals has decreased 24% from last year. The organization will also close their Avon donor center, freeze management salaries, and end its therapeutic phlebotomy program.
