South Bend Authorities: Man says he saw 1993 murder…

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana man has been arrested in the 1993 murder of a 16-year-old former girlfriend after a man now living in South Carolina told authorities he witnessed her death.

A probable cause affidavit says Eric Freeman told authorities two months ago he was with 38-year-old Jason Tibbs of LaPorte when he got into a fight with Rayna Rison and strangled her.

LaPorte County Prosecutor Robert Szilagyi says Freeman made the statement after being granted immunity. Police talked to Freeman after another man said he saw Tibbs and Freeman with a body in the trunk of a car.

Tibbs was arraigned Friday. Judge Tom Alevizos entered a not guilty plea and set a Sept. 13 deadline for him to hire an attorney. He was ordered held without bond.
