Indy Police Fatally Shoot Armed Man after Chase

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indianapolis police have fatally shot a man who fled officers at a park and holed himself inside a house with a gun.

Police say it's not clear why the man fled an officer who approached him at Brookside Park on the city's east side Wednesday, but they say they believe the man was on probation for a charge of driving while intoxicated.  The man was not immediately identified.

Police say the man led officers on a pursuit from the park to a home on the city's southeast side. When officers heard the man inside the house cock a gun, one officer fired a shot through an open window, fatally wounding the suspect.
