BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): Justice came swiftly for more than 220 people cited for underage drinking and other misdemeanor violations during Indiana University's Little 500 weekend.

The Herald-Times and WTHR-TV report most of the young defendants were eligible for Monroe County's pretrial diversion program Sunday.

After a morning filling out paperwork, an afternoon performing community service by picking up trash and an evening spent in an alcohol education class, successful completion of the program would result in dismissed charges after one year. The cost of the program is $425.

Monroe County prosecutor Chris Gaal said most citations were for underage drinking.
The university held its Little 500 bicycle races over the weekend.
