INDIANAPOLIS (AP): A former police officer and council member from southeastern Indiana says he was fired for blowing the whistle on public corruption.
Doug Taylor's federal lawsuit accuses Lawrenceburg Mayor Dennis Carr and other city officials of ghost employment, theft of public money and other misconduct. Taylor claims he was fired from his job on the police force for publishing a report exposing wrongdoing by officials.

The mayor and city attorney didn't immediately return phone calls from The Associated Press seeking comment. Questions were referred to the city's marketing director, who did not immediately respond.

The lawsuit says Taylor was a police officer for 22 years before he was fired last September in the Ohio River city near Cincinnati.

A spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office wouldn't confirm any investigation.
