S. Indiana Sheriff Crashes SUV After Medical Issue

SALEM, Ind. (AP) _ A southern Indiana sheriff has been hospitalized after crashing his SUV after experiencing a medical issue.

Indiana State Police Sergeant Jerry Goodin says Washington County Sheriff Claude Combs was traveling on Indiana 60 just west of Salem when the crash occurred Wednesday afternoon.

Goodin says Combs' vehicle went off the road, struck a ditch and flipped several times. He says the 65-year-old sheriff was wearing his seat belt, and Combs was taken to a Salem hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Salem is about 30 miles northwest of Louisville, Kentucky.
