INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana politicians are moving into attack mode as Election Day draws near.
Democratic candidate for secretary of state Beth White sparred with Republicans last week over accusations of voter suppression. The Republican Party fired back by saying it had evidence that White has violated state campaigning laws.
It's a marked change in tone from a few weeks ago when candidates went on air with whimsical ads looking to win over voters.
Andy Downs, director of the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics, says campaigns use different strategies based on where they are in a campaign.
He says that early in a campaign they look to win supporters with positive messages, while later in the game they try to deprive their opponent of votes.
