Memorial Set for 1 of 7 found dead in Indiana

KNOX, Ind. (AP): Relatives of a northern Indiana woman who was one of six women whose bodies were found last weekend in abandoned houses in Gary will gather Nov. 1 to remember her life.

Kristine Williams' father says the memorial for his 36-year-old daughter will be held at the MC Smith Funeral Home in Knox, the small Indiana city where she grew up.

Bruce Williams says his daughter was a “beautiful child” and talented musician who developed a drug program in early adulthood and became estranged from him and other relatives.

Police say 43-year-old Darren Vann has confessed to killing a woman in a Hammond motel and six other women, including Williams, whose bodies were found in abandoned houses in Gary.

Bruce Williams says his daughter never deserved the fate she met in Gary.
