Service Set Friday for Slain Indiana Aid Worker

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A central Indiana mosque will host a funeral service Friday for an Indiana aid worker who was beheaded by Islamic State militants.

The Al Huda Foundation in Fishers says the service for Abdul-Rahman Kassig (AHB'-duhl RAHK'-muhn KAS'-ihg) will be held following its regular Friday sermon that begins at 1:10 p.m. It says a Syrian cleric, Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi, will deliver the sermon.

The mosque says visitors of all faiths are welcome. It says Kassig's parents, Ed and Paula Kassig of Indianapolis, are expected to attend.

Kassig was captured Oct. 1, 2013, while delivering aid in Syria through a relief organization he founded. The White House confirmed his death Sunday after the Islamic State group released a video showing he had been beheaded, becoming the fifth Westerner killed by the group.
