GARY, Ind. (AP) – A Gary funeral home where the remains of two babies were found inside small boxes above ceiling tiles could face state sanctions.

Indiana Professional Licensing Agency spokesman Nick Goodwin said the agency expected to file a complaint Friday against Smith, Bizzell and Warner & Son Funeral Home with the Indiana Attorney General's Office.

Goodwin isn't disclosing the complaint's contents but says that if it recommends a 90-day emergency summary suspension, the agency's board could call an emergency meeting next week to consider it. That would give the attorney general's office time to investigate further.

A funeral home spokesman said Thursday the remains of the babies had been there for about 20 years. He said the business contacted the Lake County coroner's office regarding the matter about six months ago.
