Beech Grove Man Arrested in Connection with Assault Case

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (AP): Police have arrested a 42-year-old Beech Grove man suspected of sexually assaulting an elderly Greenwood woman.
 
According to a statement from the Greenwood Police Department, the man was arrested Saturday and faces preliminary charges of rape, burglary and confinement. Files from the Indiana Department of Correction's Sex and Violent Offender Registry show he had previously been convicted of child molestation in 1993.
 
Police say the assault occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on Friday in the Valle Vista subdivision of Greenwood. The woman told police she was alone in her home when someone knocked on her door. When she answered, she claims the suspect assaulted her.
 
The suspect is being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $192,000 bond.
