INDIANAPOLIS (AP): An Indianapolis teenager who pleaded guilty to murder in the fatal shooting of an expectant father has been sentenced to 55 years in prison.

Eighteen-year-old Simeon Adams was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty last month to the April 2014 slaying of Nathan Trapuzzano. The 24-year-old was fatally shot during a morning walk on the city's west side.

Adams, who was 16 at the time of the slaying, was charged as an adult for the crime.

Prosecutors reached a plea agreement with Adams after consulting with the Trapuzzano family.

Trapuzzano was an Ivy Tech Community College computer programmer who was expecting his first child at the time of his killing.

His widow, Jennifer, gave birth to a daughter about four weeks after he was slain.
