MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ A judge has denied a request to lower the bond of an Indiana man accused in his 5-month-old son's death so he could help his wife through the birth of their second child.

Twenty-three-year-old Cory Wallace faces five felony charges, including arson and neglect of a dependent resulting in death. He's accused of dropping his son Jensen in the family's Muncie home, not seeking medical attention and then setting fire to his son's room to hide the cause of death.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports the judge denied lowering Wallace's bond from $180,000 to $50,000 Tuesday. In a written order, the judge said prosecutors had shown Wallace presents a safety risk.

Wallace's 20-year-old wife, Sheryl, had requested reducing his bond Monday, saying she wanted his “help and support'' with their baby due next month.
