Provider Shift to Affect Indiana Food Stamps, Other Benefits

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A state agency says Indiana residents receiving food stamps and other benefits won't be able to make purchases using their government-issued debit cards for parts of two days this month.

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration says recipients of food stamps and aid for needy families won't be able to use their cards for purchases starting 11 p.m. on Sept. 26 as the agency shifts from current provider JPMorgan Chase to new provider Xerox.

The FSSA says cardholders should be able to make purchases again by 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 27.

The agency suggests cardholders do their grocery shopping or make cash withdrawals before or after the outage period.

The transition won't change debit card benefits or PIN numbers and new cards won't be needed.
