Disaster Training Set for Guard Facility in Southern Indiana

NORTH VERNON, Ind. (AP) _ Several state and emergency agencies plan to take part in disaster training exercises at a National Guard facility in southern Indiana.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says it is staging the disaster-response exercises starting Monday at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center near North Vernon. The agency says the training sessions throughout the week will focus on earthquake and tornado emergencies.

The Muscatatuck center will represent the city of Vincennes for the earthquake exercises since the community is in the Wabash Valley seismic zone.

Some police agencies, fire departments and emergency medical services personnel will also take part in the exercises.
