Our earlier story…

HUNTERTOWN, Ind. (WOWO): Police are investigating a bank robbery in Huntertown.

The robbery reportedly happened at the Farmers and Merchants Bank on Gump Road across State Route 3 in downtown Huntertown this morning a little before noon.

Our partners in news at 21Alive say that a man entered the bank and handed a note to the teller demanding cash. It's unknown if the suspect is in custody or if he displayed a weapon.

Northwest Allen County Schools have placed Huntertown, Perry Hill, Oak View, and Cedar Canyon Elementary Schools on lockdown in response, along with Carroll Middle School. A district spokesperson says they are on a Level 2 lockdown, which means students are locked in their rooms while school operates normally. The school will re-evaluate the lockdown at about 2 PM.
