One Dead, Two Hurt in Car/Buggy Crash

EMMA, Ind. (WOWO) _ An 11-month-old girl is dead and two other small children are injured after a car slammed into the back of an Amish buggy in LaGrange County.

It happened at just before 10:30 last night on 600 West road just south of Emma, when a car driven by Caleb Wingard of Topeka hit the buggy, ejecting the 11-month old, hurting a 3-year-old girl and critically injuring a 2-year-old boy… the children were airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital.

Wingard has been arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol, speeding too fast to avoid a collision, violating a learner's permit, and following too closely.
