Fort Wayne man killed in Michigan snowmobile crash

MUNISING, Mich. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man has died following a snowmobile crash in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Michigan State Police say Steve Short was riding Wednesday in Alger County's Munising Township when he lost control, crossed a roadway and struck a snowbank. Police say he was thrown from the snowmobile and fatally injured.

WBUP-TV reports the crash happened near the Hiawatha National Forest's Wide Waters Campground, and that excessive speed was a factor.
