Public safety grants given to Huntington, LaGrange and Grant County fire departments

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WOWO): The Indiana Homeland Security Foundation approved more than $175,000 in grants to aid local public safety agencies around the state.

Awards were given to 48 recipients in 36 counties and include local fire departments, emergency medical services, law enforcement and emergency management agencies in all 10 Indiana Department of Homeland Security districts, according to the governor’s office.

The Huntington Township Volunteer Fire Department is getting just under $4,000 for fire protective clothing.

In LaGrange County, the Topeka Fire Department will get $4,000 for detection equipment and Shipshewana will get $4,000 for structural fire fighting boots.

The Center Township Volunteer Fire Department in Marion will get $4,000 for rescue stabilization struts.
