WASHINGTON, D.C. (WOWO): The U.S. House and Senate both overrode a veto from President Obama for the first time Wednesday, with a bill that would allow families who had loved ones lost in the 9/11 attacks to sue Saudi Arabia or other countries that may be responsible.

Indiana Senator Dan Coats says it’s one of the few issues where both sides of the highly-polarized Senate agrees:

“Both Democrats and Republicans, both the House and the Senate, agree. Only the President is holding out.”

Obama said the bill could potentially open the U.S. up to similar lawsuits filed by other countries.
