The organization is looking to reduce unnecessary euthanasia of animals by educating pet owners about local animal rescues, and low-cost spaying and neutering options.

The website uses customer reviews to create a list of the area's top-rated nonprofits. The award was given to HOPE for Animals due to a large amount of positive reviews that were written by volunteers and donors.

This was the first time the organization qualified for the award.
