FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A woman was arrested and a 5-year-old boy is in serious condition after a crash Tuesday night.

Kneisha Lovette McLellan, 39, was arrested on preliminary charges of leaving the scene of a person injury crash and driving while suspended with prior convictions, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Police were called to the 4300 block of Marquette Drive at about 7 p.m. Tuesday on reports of a crash. Investigators believe a vehicle was going west on Marquette Drive when a boy ran into the street and was struck. The vehicle then took off, but police took McLellan into custody moments later, police say.

The 5-year-old was hospitalized in serious condition. Police say alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
