GM accused of emissions testing “cheating”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): General Motors is facing a class-action lawsuit over alleged emissions testing cheating.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday on behalf of those who own or lease more than 705,000 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks featuring “Duramax” engines between the 2011 and 2016 model years, according to Business Insider.

The lawsuit claims GM used what’s called a “defeat device” to make sure they passed state and federal emissions tests, much like those Volkswagen was punished for using earlier this year.

GM, which manufactures both the Sierra and Silverado trucks in Fort Wayne, calls the claims “baseless.”
