VAN WERT, Ohio (WOWO): Officers with the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department recently arrested a registered sex offender in Van Wert, but they’re still seeking information regarding some incidents involving the offender.

Dezmond Bywaters, 26, of Van Wert, was taken into custody Wednesday after officers executed multiple search warrants. The warrants were the result of an investigation into Bywaters allegedly soliciting a young teenager to engage in sexual activity with him.

Bywaters, a registered sex offender, was arrested on a charge of Importuning, a Felony of the Fifth degree and additional charges could be sought at as an investigation is underway.
