Cousin now charged in Thanksgiving night murder

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A cousin of a man charged with a 2018 Thanksgiving murder is also charged in the case.

Sybron Pinkston, 30 of Fort Wayne, is charged with assisting a criminal where the criminal committed murder, according to the Journal Gazette. Sybron was arrested during a traffic stop on Saturday.

Police say they received a tip that Gerald Pinkston, 22 and Sybron’s cousin, had been living in Sybron’s house for around a month.

Gerald was arrested in the early morning hours last Sunday at a home in the 300 block of Dunbar Lane after being on the run since the shooting.

Gerald was charged on Nov. 30 with three counts of murder and a count of criminal recklessness. He along with Cameron Joyner is accused of shooting and killing Joevonn Johnson, 23, Colton Messmer, 21, and Tracey Andrews, 21.  Two others were injured in the shooting in the 6100 block of Downington Drive.

Joyner was arrested in a traffic stop the following morning and was originally charged with five counts of aggravated battery. He is now charged with three counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of felony criminal recklessness.

Sybron Pinkston is held in the Allen County Jail and has a court hearing set for Thursday.
