Fort Wayne mom found guilty of neglect after baby suffers brain damage

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman has been found guilty of neglect after her infant ended up suffering brain damage.

35-year-old Auralea Till was accused of child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury. Police say in June 2017 she was drunk when her 8-month-old son Vincent ended up with a plastic bag over his head. The child suffered permanent brain damage due to a lack of oxygen.

Till’s sister, Lisa Ray, tells our Partners in News at ABC 21 her sister deserves the verdict:

“She drinks while she’s pregnant, she drinks after she has them. And each time she has a child, something worse happens,” she says.

The boy, who is now two years old, has the functionality of a nine-month-old and needs a feeding tube.

Till no longer has custody of her five children, and faces up to 16 years in prison.
