ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO):  The Adams County Coroner, Leslie Cook, has issued the following statement in regards to the identification of the Adams County woman who was killed when the SUV she was riding in lost a tire and rolled over on US 27 near County Road 850 N Sunday afternoon:

“Ronda L. Cowans, age 49, from Decatur has been identified as the decedent in a single vehicle car accident on Sunday July 27, 2014. Mrs. Cowans was reportedly a passenger in the SUV and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy conducted today revealed that Mrs. Cowans died as a result of multiple blunt force trauma.”

According to police, 47-year-old Tyler Cowans, of Decatur, was driving the SUV. He suffered head and internal injuries and was taken to Lutheran Hospital. 19-year-old Mariah Cowans, of Decatur, 18-year-old Rick Stults, of Geneva, and 1-year-old Jaiden Cowans were in the vehicle and were also taken to Lutheran with internal injuries.

The conditions of the four injured are unknown at this time and the crash remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police.
