Allen County 4-H Clubs to host free Hunter Education Class

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): The Allen County 4-H Clubs, Inc. is hosting a free Hunter Education Class in January and February.

The two-day course is 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 and Feb. 4. at the Purdue Extension Allen County Office, 4001 Crescent Ave. Attendees must attend both classes to be certified, according to Purdue University. 

Hunting heritage, early firearms history, firearms safety, hunter responsibility, wildlife conservation, wildlife identification, care of game, specialty hunting, survival, first aid and water safety will all be covered during the class.

Anyone born before or on Dec. 31, 1986 need to be certified in Hunter Education before they can purchase a hunting license. People under 18 need to give the instructor a signed, completed Liability Release Form. Anyone under 11 needs to be accompanied by a guardian.

Go to DNR’s website to pre-register. Class size is limited and those going are asked to bring a sacked lunch.
