FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Allen County SPCA set a new record at the Northern Indiana Pet Expo over the weekend.

In just two days, the Allen County SPCA helped 70 animals find forever homes through its adoption program – more pets than have ever gone home in a single weekend. Other shelters and rescues present at the event completed an additional 30 adoptions.

The annual Northern Indiana Pet Expo hosts more than 60 vendors, 15 shelters and rescues, and world-class entertainment for pets and pet lovers each year. This year’s attendance exceeded 3,000 people.

“We’re so thrilled at the number of lives that were saved through Northern Indiana Pet Expo this year! The event is always a blast – there’s something for the entire family. At the end of the day it’s about saving lives, and this year more than ever we were successful in that endeavor,” says Jessica Henry, Executive Director of the Allen County SPCA.

The event was sponsored by The Petco Foundation, Vera Bradley, Heritage Parts, and Bob Rohrman Subaru of Fort Wayne.

Next year’s Northern Indiana Pet Expo will take place April 21 and 22, 2018 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
