ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Allen County government was able to recover more than half-a million dollars in property taxes owed following the County Treasurer's annual tax sale held September 10.

The Allen County Board of Commissioners released the following announcement about the annual tax sale results:

Sue Orth, Allen County Treasurer, announced today that 345 properties were sold, recouping a total of $589,364 in taxes owed. These funds will be distributed to local units of government including cities, schools and the public library. The properties that did not sell will be deeded to the County.

166 registered bidders from across the country participated in this year's sale.

Last year, 320 properties were sold at the auction recouping more than $789,000 in taxes.
