Bicyclist in Critical Condition after Being Struck by SUV

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A juvenile is in critical condition after being hit by an SUV while riding his bicycle.

 

According to officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department, the bicyclist was struck at the intersection of St. Joseph Boulevard and Tennessee Avenue at 6:40 p.m., Saturday evening.

 

Once officers arrived on the scene, they found the cyclist unresponsive in the middle of the roadway.

 

Witnesses told police that the cyclist was driving eastbound on Tennessee, ignored a red traffic signal, entered the intersection and was hit by the SUV. The juvenile was transported from the scene to a local hospital where he was determined to be in critical condition. The driver of the SUV was not injured in the accident.
