Artists Sought to Create Indiana Bicentennial Medal

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – State officials aren't letting Indiana's bicentennial celebration next year pass without minting a collector medal honoring the big occasion.

The Indiana Arts Commission is partnering with the Indiana Bicentennial Commission to select an artist to create a commemorative medal recognizing the state's 200th birthday.

Eligible artists must be permanent, legal residents of Indiana and at least 18 years old. Applicants must be willing to work with a selection committee to make design changes, if needed, and willing to meet all project deadlines.

Artists may submit up to three designs with their application. The winning artist will receive a $5,000 cash award for their design.

The deadline to submit both a contest application and artwork is June 29.
