Ballet Company Opposes Anderson Bus Terminal Site

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) – A semi-professional ballet company is voicing concern over the proposed site of a new public bus terminal in downtown Anderson.

The board of directors of the Anderson Young Ballet Theatre says it's worried about the safety of its students, potential vandalism and increased traffic. The Herald Bulletin reports the regional dance group is located in the Big Four Arts Depot, less than two blocks away from the proposed terminal.

But the superintendent of the City of Anderson Transit System says the ballet theatre board is making unfounded allegations. He says the group isn't familiar with the type of people who ride city buses.

Mayor Kevin Smith says he would be happy to meet with the board. He says he encourages the board and anyone else who's concerned to try riding the bus.
