FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Now that spring is coming, it’s a good idea to watch out for contractor scams that can boldly march right up to your door.

Rick Walz from the Better Business Bureau of Northern Indiana says they always start to come around at the change of seasons, and after major storms like the wind storm that blew through this past weekend:

“With contractors in particular, there are just so many scams. We recommend first of all to work with a local business, and to make sure they have the appropriate identification and documentation so you’re not just dealing with a fly-by-nighter,” Walz says.

And no matter what you do if you hire someone, always be sure to get a deal in writing, with as much detail as you can ahead of time.
