BBB Warns of Phone, Email IRS Scams Going Around

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): There is a student loan scam going around in northern Indiana.

An email scam is going around that is targeting people regarding their student loan balance. The email offers the person complete loan forgiveness through the Public Service Forgiveness Program and asks that you call an 866 number. 

The Better Business Bureau says the emails are originating from Panama. It's recommended that you do not respond to this email if you receive it. 

They're also warning about an IRS phone scam that is continuing claiming that you're being audited for failing to report income tax earnings. The IRS does not make calls like this and you're advised to ignore it.
