STATEWIDE, (WOWO) — The bill would require school corporations to increase the minimum salary for a teacher to $45,000.

Currently, the minimum is $40,000.

The bill also looks to create more affordable health-care costs for teachers by having the Indiana Department of Education analyze school health plan options.

The bill would provide 20 days of paid leave for a full-time teacher and 10 days of paid leave for a part-time teacher for certain parental situations.

The Senate Committee on Appropriations will consider the measure next.
