Blackford High School placed on lockdown Tuesday after student brings gun to school

HARTFORD CITY, Ind. (WOWO): An area high school was put on lockdown yesterday afternoon after a student brought a gun to school.

Officials with Blackford County Schools say school personnel at Blackford High School learned that a student had possession of a gun just past 2pm.

The school was immediately put into lockdown and law enforcement was notified while safety plans went into effect. Minutes later, the student was taken into custody by the Blackford County Sheriff’s Department and the gun was found.

Nobody was hurt, and as an extra precaution every student, backpack, and classroom was searched to ensure student safety.

Classes resumed as normal today. There’s no word yet on any charges against the student.
