Bodies of 2 men found in SUV identified

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Police have released the names of two Indianapolis men found dead in a sport-utility vehicle hours after nearby residents heard what they thought were firecrackers.

Indianapolis police say the bodies found Friday morning on the city's southeast side are those of 33-year-old Cardell Hoston and 32-year-old Steven Caldwell.

Lt. Chris Bailey tells The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/ZQhzq9 ) that a couple living at a home in the area told officers they heard popping sounds that they assumed to be firecrackers about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Bailey says the couple then went to bed and awoke Friday morning to find the Chevy Suburban in which the men's bodies were discovered.

Nearby resident 33-year-old Rick Markle says he's never noticed much crime in the area. He says the men's deaths are “scary, crazy.”
