Body in Gary Is Missing Anderson Woman

GARY, Ind. (AP): A body found wrapped in plastic in a Gary home has been identified as that of an Anderson woman who vanished in early April with her infant daughter.

The Lake County coroner said Saturday an autopsy determined that 23-year-old Samantha J. Fleming died from stab wounds.

Anderson police searching for Fleming and her daughter found the body Friday wrapped in plastic and hidden inside a storage bin in a Gary home.

Fleming's daughter was found in the home in good health and was returned to relatives in Indianapolis.

A woman inside the house who was caring for the baby told officers the girl is her sister's child.

Police say that sister is a suspect in the case. She's receiving mental health care in Texas, where she was visiting her mother.
