Braun defeats Donnelly

INDIANA (WOWO): Indiana has a new U.S. Senator.

Mike Braun unseated Democratic Senator Joe Donnelly Tuesday night, according to ABC, CBS, NBC, and Politico.

The pro-Trump businessman and former state lawmaker promoted himself as an outsider to Indiana voters in a race that saw Donnelly unsuccessfully attempt to win re-election by pointing out he had supported a large amount of President Trump’s own initiatives.

The race was one of the most closely-watched in the country, with many saying it would help determine the balance of the power in the US Senate.
