FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A candlelight vigil to honor crime victims and their surviving families is planned for Tuesday evening.

The public is invited to the vigil, which will take place at 5:30 PM Tuesday at the Allen County Courthouse. The event comes as part of National Crime Victims' Rights Week, which runs from April 19th to April 25th. 

The purpose of the vigil is to bring together crime victims so a better understanding of their needs can be reached so their lives can be rebuilt.

A Victim Assistance 5k Run/Walk and Kid's Fun Run is scheduled for May 30th at the Rothschild Pavilion at Headwaters Park. Check-in for the run/walk is at 8 AM with the run to begin at 9 AM.
