Cause and manner of death released for house fire victim

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The cause and manner of death have been released for a victim found during last month’s house fire.

Firefighters were called to a home in the 2300 block of Elyetta Street just after midnight on November 22. After bringing the fire under control, a body was found inside the home.

The victim was later identified as Evan C. Ehinger, 50 of Fort Wayne. His cause of death was determined to be smoke inhalation and thermal burns. Ehinger’s manner of death was ruled an accident.

The incident is still under investigation.
