ALEXANDRIA, Ind. (AP) – Organizers of a central Indiana holiday toy drive say about $1,300 worth of stolen presents have been returned.

Alexandria Toy Drive organizer Terri Brenner reported that the presents were stolen on Wednesday afternoon while volunteers were moving the gifts from one storage unit to another storage unit. Brenner tells The (Anderson) Herald-Bulletin that most of the toys were returned sometime before dawn on Thursday.

Brenner says she thinks “someone’s conscience must have gotten the better of them.”

The toys included board games, remote control cars and dolls. The toy drive has operated since 1994, donating Christmas toys to children age 11 and younger in Alexandria, Summitville and Orestes.
