FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A child in Fort Wayne has died after injuries sustained in a house fire last weekend.

The Fort Wayne fire department was called to the house fire in the 300 block of Fleming Avenue around 10:00 a.m., Saturday morning. Once there, they pulled 8-year-old Jelan Whitten-Strother from a second floor window.

He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and was then put on life support. Doctors declared Jelan brain dead on Sunday and he remained on life support until early Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the cause of the house fire is still under investigation.
