City of Fort Wayne asking for volunteers for tree planting day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The city of Fort Wayne hopes you won’t leaf the trees alone.

The city of Fort Wayne is inviting residents to plant new trees in the city’s parks and public spaces during the Great Tree Canopy Comeback, according to the city of Fort Wayne.

The Great Tree Canopy Comeback was created in 2002 and is Fort Wayne’s tree planting day.

More than 250 trees will be planted in Lions, McCormick, Weisser, Salomon Farm, Metea County Park and New Haven Parks’ Community Center.

Anyone wanting to volunteer is asked to register in advance by emailing Robin Holley at GTCC15Years@Outlook.com or by calling 260-417-3804.

Volunteers who pre-register by Sept. 20 will get a t-shirt.
