TIPTON, Ind. (AP) – A central Indiana commissioner says a wind farm where two blades have broken off of towering wind turbines this year poses no “imminent danger” to nearby residents.
Residents near the Wildcat Wind Farm brought their safety concerns about the turbines to Monday's Tipton County Board of Commissioners meeting.
Resident Stan Jones told the commissioners they would have to act if future blade breaks put residents near the farm in danger.
The Kokomo Tribune reports that a turbine lost one of its blades at the farm April 2. It was the second blade to separate this year from one of the site's 125 turbines.
Board of Commissioners President Phil Heron says the latest blade break doesn't provide any new evidence suggesting that the turbines pose an “imminent danger” to residents.
